Axon, the global leader in the connected public safety technology segment has announced the acquisition of Foundry 45, the virtual reality (VR) studio of global stature that specializes in the development of immersive training modules for large companies. Foundry 45 which counts several Fortune 100 companies among its clients has been founded in 2015 and has been working ever since towards the development of VR training modules aimed at enhancing efficiency and improving knowledge retention. The acquisition was finalized on April 5, 2022, though the financial terms of the deal are being kept under wraps.

The Axon VR team, on the other hand, has been working toward enhancing public safety by ensuring its training modules are affordable, accessible, and relevant to the cause it is aimed at. The company has been focussing in harnessing the power of the latest advancements in technology to make workers better prepared to face the challenges in the workspace. Its training modules are designed to help officers develop critical thinking, de-escalation techniques, and tactical skills across a diverse set of highly realistic scenarios. The company hopes it can better leverage the capabilities of Foundry 45 in this space to come up with more immersive and effective training modules in the future.

“We’re thrilled the Foundry 45 team has joined Axon in our mission to Protect Life,” says Chris Chin, VP of Immersive Technologies, Axon. “Their team of accomplished enterprise VR training experts are a great addition to Axon and I’m excited to join forces and level-up our public safety training capabilities to make communities safer for all.”

Virtual reality technologies have been rapidly evolving in recent times and have been seeing increasing application in various segments. Those range from entertainment, gaming, training simulation, and so on. With the expertise Foundry 45 has developed over the years, Axon hopes to further strengthen its position in the public safety technology sphere.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles as well, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. Motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I’ll make a film sometime in the future.
