Xiaomi has announced the launch of the Mijia AR Glasses Camera which marks its entry into the hot new AR segment, GizmoChina reported. The Mijia AR Glasses Camera is also unique in several ways though the one thing that catches the eyes right away is its rather odd shape, something that also makes it seem quite bulky as well. Xiaomi though said the glasses weigh just 100 grams.
The right temple of the glasses somewhat protrudes out a bit and expands in scope to include several camera lenses. The Chinese tech giant said there sits a 50 MP Quad Bayer four-in-one wide-angle camera along with an 8 MP periscopic telephoto sensor that also benefits from split OIS optical stabilization. The latter bit is important considering that the glasses would be constantly on the move when say you are walking or moving your head around. The camera otherwise is capable of 5x optical zoom and 15x hybrid zoom.
The left temple, meanwhile, accommodates a head-up display. Another highlight of the Mijia AR Glasses Camera is the dedicated Snapdragon 8 chipset that it comes with. The processor is coupled with 3 GB of memory and 32 GB of storage. It boasts of an independent ISP as well which enables it to allow for a great AR experience. For display, there is the Micro OLED display on board along with a free-form optical prism. Xiaomi is also claiming a light efficiency ratio of 60 percent. The glasses have also made it passed the Rheinland hardware low blue light certification test as well.
The Mijia AR Glasses Camera can also be connected with the Mijia App on a compatible smartphone. This will let users have an overall insight into the functioning of the AR glasses while performing other tasks such as importing images from the glasses, applying templates, sharing the same on social sites, and so on.
The Mijia AR Glasses Camera is now on pre-order via the Xiaomi crowdfunding platform, Youpin. The AR glasses are priced at 2699 yuan which comes to around $399 though the same is now being offered at a special discounted price of 2499 yuan, which translates to about $369.
Google too had recently announced they have started testing their AR glasses. Others like Apple and Facebook too have stated they will offer AR/ VR glasses soon.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles as well, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. Motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I’ll make a film sometime in the future.
