It has been some time since HTC has been teasing its upcoming new VR headset on Twitter. However, it has only been providing us with bits and pieces of the headset so far though as Pocket-Lint reported, we now seem to have a better insight into the headset thanks to the efforts of YouTuber Brad Lynch.
So, as per what Lynch has to say, the new headset is yet to officially get a name but has the looks that resemble the HTC Vive Flow more than anything else. Then again, the headset is touted to have the capability to function as a standalone VR headset, something that again draws a parallel to the Vive Focus 3. Lynch cited sources attached to the supply chain to back his claims.
Further, the headset is believed to feature four tracking cameras while there is another one for capturing passthrough shots. It is also a 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) headset, a quality that makes the headset more of a competitor to the Quest 2 than any of the headsets HTC has come up with so far. It is shown to be accompanied by the same pair of controllers as the ones that the Vive Focus 3 comes with even though there are a few different features that would be hard to miss.
The headset otherwise features of pair of displays having a resolution of 1,920 x 1,920 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Lynch is also claiming a slim and light build for the headset with pancake-like lenses. The leak also has it that the headset will incorporate a modular design, which means users will be able to attach external modules such as eye trackers.
Lastly, the headset is projected to have a Snapdragon XR2 Gen. 2 at its core even though there is no concrete evidence to back the same.
More details are expected in the coming days ahead. Stay tuned!
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles as well, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. Motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I’ll make a film sometime in the future.
