The Meta Quest 2 is getting a performance boost thanks to a new update introduced to the two year old headset. Meta said the maximum frequency has been boosted to 525 MHz from the earlier 490 MHz, something that will let it have 7 percent more performance, Engadget reported.
“No integration or coding is needed to start reaping the benefits of this improvement — the dynamic clocking system will automatically increase the frequency as it detects that your app would benefit from it,” Meta wrote. All that the user has to do is “a doff/don (take it off and put it back on) or sleep cycle by clicking the power button twice.”
Meta also stated the GPU will boost from 490 MHz to 525 MHz if you have foveation enabled in your app. This will ensure higher quality visuals rather than the foveation getting increased. Developers otherwise might opt to make necessary changes to the app to make the most of the enhanced processor speed to enhance the display resolution. This also is likely to be the last update that the headset would be getting considering that the company is already slated to launch the Quest 3 next year.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles as well, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. Motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I’ll make a film sometime in the future.
