Apple is widely rumored to be in the advanced stages of launching its own AR and VR headset sometime soon. However, for those who can’t wait to see how the headset will turn out to be in a real-world setting, here is your chance to experience the real thing in a virtual environment. It’s a 3D model of the Apple upcoming mixed reality headset created by AppleInsider that is being referred to here, and the good thing with the headset model is that anyone with an iPhone or an iPad will be able to see the headset right on their desk itself using augmented reality.

Past leaks on this had claimed the headset will be made available to developers in 2023 followed by a larger release for the masses. Also, from the images of the headset that has surfaced online so far, the design somewhat mimics the looks of a VR goggle. One is also likely to be reminded of the Oculus Rift headset from the design leaks that we have had of the Apple headset so far.

AppleInsider said they used inputs from various leaks and rumors as well as the images doing the rounds of the internet to arrive at a 3D model of the same. Further, given Apple’s usual design strategy, the company would be diving deep into its parts bin to source various components that would go into the making of the headset. Such commonality in parts or materials also helps in keeping the overall costs down.

For instance, the bands would likely be made of the same fluoroelastomer material that has been used on the Apple Watch. Similarly, it shouldn’t be surprising if the eye covers are made using the same material that has been used in the AirPods Max earpad. Again, the sort of curved glass and metal used in making the iPhone might find application in developing the main body of the headset.

You can use the AR mode in an iPhone or the iPad to place the headset on your desk or any flat surface. Mac users will be able to download a USDZ file which can then be seen in Preview. On the whole, this makes for an interesting scenario, using Augmented Reality to see Apple’s upcoming mixed reality headset.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles as well, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. Motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I’ll make a film sometime in the future.
