Meta Platforms Inc. has its annual event lined up on October 11, Reuters reported. That is also when the company is expected to reveal its all new VR headset that is being developed in what has come to be known as Project Cambria. The company is also expected to make a few other announcements that would shed light on its future ambitions in the AR and VR space. The above has been revealed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post that confirmed the launch date. The post also included a picture of the CEO wearing the VR headset.
Zuckerberg had earlier revealed on a podcast last month that the upcoming headset will have advanced sensors designed to track the wearer’s eyes and facial cues. The headset will use the same information in real-time to make a more accurate digital avatar that would also have the same facial expression to make it look more realistic and accurate. Facebook is banking a lot on Project Cambria which has come to be identified as one of the central pillars of the company’s future strategy with regard to the metaverse.
The company has released several updates for its VR social platform Horizon Worlds in the past few months. The October 11 event is expected to introduce more clarity to the company’s future AR and VR plans and so on.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles as well, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. Motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I’ll make a film sometime in the future.
